With the holiday season quickly approaching, you have been tasked to plan your company, family or friends holiday gathering. You have looked at the venue and have decided it needs something more. Pipe and drape can be the answer to turn any venue into a beautiful and elegant space for your holiday party!
1.What can Pipe and Drape do?
Pipe and drape can be the cornerstone of the ambiance you set at your holiday event. If done properly it is tasteful as well as highly practical. Pipe and drape can transform any room features that are unwanted, into an elegant and classy feature that is desired. You can also enclose an entire room with pipe and drape.
2.Do You Need Pipe and Drape?
The first thing you should do to determine whether you should seek pipe and drape for your event is to know your venue, and how it looks. If it has any unsightly features that may hurt your holiday ambiance, then pipe and drape may be the answer. The beauty of pipe and drape is the customizability. Most event rental companies like Lions Event Rentals have adjustable options to ensure you have the perfect size of pipe and drape for your desired result. Generally, pipe and drape heights range from 7’-14’ in height and 4’-10’ in width (keep in mind you can connect panels widthwise to have almost infinite length).
3.Choose Your Pipe and Drape
Once you have determined your desired area of coverage as well as ceiling heights, you can then move on to the selection process.
Colours:
White: White is perfect for winter themed holiday parties. It instantly gives your room a warmer, larger feel. White pairs perfectly with uplighting if you would like to add pops of colour to your event space. For a holiday theme I would suggest blue uplighting to create a Winter Wonderland theme!
Black: Black is the go-to for any upscale-themed holiday event. Black immediately sets the mood as sophisticated and elegant. As a rule of thumb, I would suggest black pipe and drape if there is a dress code above business casual!
- Ivory: Ivory is my personal choice for a stand-alone pipe and drape colour. It gives an upscale look to the traditional white colour while maintaining a warm environment. If you are not looking to add any colour pops to your event then I would suggest ivory over white as a stand-alone colour, especially during the holiday season.
Heights:
7’-8’: These are the “standard” heights that come with pipe and drape. The height refers to the length of upright bars that will support the drapery. This height will work for most venues as it will fit under standard ceilings. Keep in mind that continuous pipe and drape must be the same size so if there are any dips in the ceiling you should make a note and convey this to your sales representative.
8’-14’: This is the oversized height for pipe and drape. Consider this height if you have especially high ceilings (over 20’) or have any areas that you would like to cover that are higher than 8’. Keep in mind that this height is often limited to the standard black or white colour of draping.
Length: For this step, all you must do is note the total length of areas that you would like to drape. For example, if you have a 40’x26’ room that you would like to enclose in white as well as a 10’ entrance way you would like to have in white note to your sales representative that you need:
Two black 40’ sections for the long walls
Two black 26’ sections for the short walls
Two white 10’ sections for the entranceway.
4.Set-up
Now that you have reached out to your sales representative and booked you pipe and drape you may be wondering how it all comes together? At Lions Event Rentals we include set-up and take-down of pipe and drape in the price of the product. Other companies may have an additional charge to set-up the pipe and drape, but I always recommend using this service as it can be complicated to get the pipe and drape to look exactly how you like it. I always like to leave it up to the professionals!
